What Rufus does.
Rufus formats and creates bootable USB flash drives from bootable images. It is intended for tasks such as preparing Windows, Linux, or UEFI installation media, working on a computer without an installed operating system, and running firmware or low-level utilities.
When Rufus is useful

- Prepare a bootable recovery USB drive
- Build DOS media for firmware or low-level tools
Before choosing Rufus
Writing an image formats the selected USB device and can erase its existing contents. Verify the target drive and back up anything needed before starting.
