SpyGuard Privacy Policy
SpyGuard is a browser security extension designed to protect users against phishing, malware, scam pages, malicious redirects, risky downloads, credential-theft attempts, and known tracking threats.
1. Data SpyGuard accesses
To provide browser-security protection, SpyGuard may access the URL of pages you visit and security-relevant website content such as page text, links, form structure, and other indicators needed to detect suspicious or malicious behavior.
These categories correspond to Web history and Website content for browser-store disclosure purposes.
2. Sensitive information
SpyGuard is not designed to collect, store, or transmit passwords, authentication credentials, payment-card numbers, personal communications, health information, or precise location data. Security analysis of forms is based on structural and contextual indicators rather than the values typed into sensitive fields.
3. Local processing and storage
Most security analysis is performed locally in the browser. SpyGuard may store protection settings, trusted-site preferences, bounded local protection history, protection counters, threat-intelligence data, and feed-update status in extension storage so that protection can function correctly.
4. Threat-intelligence feeds
SpyGuard may download phishing, malware, tracker, and malicious-URL intelligence from remote security-data providers. These downloads are treated as data only and are not executed as remote JavaScript or WebAssembly.
5. Optional reputation services
Some optional reputation features may contact external security services only when the user enables them and provides any required consent or configuration. Depending on the selected feature, SpyGuard may send a URL-derived hash prefix or a hostname to the relevant reputation provider for a security lookup.
SpyGuard does not send passwords, card details, recovery phrases, or the contents of sensitive form fields to these reputation services.
6. Downloads
Download Guard may inspect security metadata associated with a download, including its source URL, filename, and detected risk indicators, and may pause or block suspicious downloads. SpyGuard does not upload downloaded file contents as part of this protection.
7. Data sharing and sale
SpyGuard does not sell user data. Data is not shared with advertisers. Information is disclosed to external security providers only as necessary for user-enabled reputation checks described above.
8. Retention
Locally stored settings, threat intelligence, and bounded protection history remain on the user's device until updated, cleared, or removed with the extension. SpyGuard does not maintain a general-purpose remote archive of browsing history.
9. User controls
Users can disable optional protection or reputation features, manage trusted sites, clear local protection history, and remove SpyGuard from the browser at any time.
10. Security
SpyGuard uses Manifest V3 and packages its executable code with the extension. Remote resources used for threat intelligence are processed as security data rather than executable code.
11. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when SpyGuard's functionality or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
